This is a sensibly written book for girls teaching them about boys. It has good values and is not based on relationships based on looks but that the person is more important. It teaches girls about having friendships and then relationships with boys so is good to read before serious dating starts. My daughter aged twelve really enjoyed it and found it helpful.

My 12 year old, who is not interested in boys yet, enjoyed reading it and she told me she feels a bit more prepared for when hormones hit and boys become interesting. It is a good start if your daughter does not know how to talk to you about boys. If both of you read it (independently), then you can discuss it afterwards and you can fill in the gaps

I bought this book for my eldest daughter (12) after reading a few of these very useful 'Smart Girl' books with my 9yr old. Although these books are American don't let that put you off; they are not saccharine but gently straight talking with solid advice to help young girls think about and deal with everyday concerns. They are great for a girl to read alone, do the quizzes or to share together with you and open up discussion. This particular book focuses on boys giving great advice about crushes, 'going out', breaking up, being yourself, etc.
