This is a collection of beautiful patterns, some modern, some based on vintage styles but with a fresh, modern twist. I loved the spiral tweed cloche, travel shawl, elemental pullover and the redwork cowl/mitts set. Veronik Avery has a great eye for design and uses contemporary yarns to show off the designs to their best advantage. Her patterns are well written and there is plenty of help to explain terms, abbreviations and demonstrate cast ons and other techniques if you are unfamiliar with them. I'd love to knit the Olive skirt but alas it won't suit my curves :-) So I'll have to content myself with day dreaming as I knit other patterns from this gorgeous book.

The illustrations are really quite pretty and the easy to understand knitting instructions are very tempting - I wanted to make everything at once. I loved the way the book was divided into specific sections and the emphasis on morning, afternoon and weekend knitting was inspired.
There are very good sections which explain some of the more complicated techniques and a good abbreviation list. The list of yarn stockist is comprehensive and useful, as is the website address list.
It's one of those knitting books I'd love to have sitting on my craft shelf. I think just to be able to dip into it from time to time would be lovely. The patterns are really attractive and I'm sure would inspire even the most sluggish of knitters.

This looks like a great book with some lovely items in, unfortunately I think it may be a little beyond my skills though! There's not much to help you, so I would only recommend this book to confident knitters.
