5.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, 31 Jan 2012
This review is from: The Horse That Leaps Through Clouds: A Tale of Espionage, the Silk Road, and the Rise of Modern China (Hardcover)
When I have the chance to read I prefer to lose myself in fiction rather than "educating myself" by reading non-fiction books. However, my husband highly recommended "The Horse that Leaps" so I decided to give it a chance. I'm so glad I did - it's a great book! Tamm expertly ties together historical records (mainly Mannerheim's but also others) with his own personal story as he journeys from Finland, through Russia, and across central Asia to China. Both Mannerheim and Tamm met a variety of colorful characters during their travels that are fascinating to read about. Not only that but the pacing of the book is excellent - there is never a dull moment!

I enjoyed the book so much that I have bought it and given it to friends as a gift several times. Everyone loves it!
