This tells the tale of Bernadette getting back into her knitting and looking at how different people in various roles have used knitting. It did make me stop and think at certain points.

It is heart warming and interesting at the same time. Each chapter starts with a page telling us about a knitting basic and ends with a small thing for the reader to do. It also tells us about the wardorf schools which was really interesting. At the back is a basic sweater pattern and list of abbreviations.

A nice book for bedtime reading, a chapter a day is a good pace.

If you are interested in spirituality and in textile crafts, particularly knitting, then you will probably enjoy this book. It is very gentle and explores the depth of meaning that can become attached to the simple act of twisting yarn around two needles. Each chapter starts with instructions for how to do certain stitches and ends with suggestions for a simple project which spreads the love of both knitting and humanity.

This book is ideal for someone interested in spirituality or Buddhism and is a knitter. There are some wonderful examples and quotes running through it, and stories about women who took up knitting at various times in their lives. It errs particularly on the spiritual side rather than the knitting and is very much a US book in the way it is written. But a heartwarming read nevertheless.

I bought this book as a gift for my Mum.
Having already bought her the usual kind of knitting book I thought this was knitting from a different aspect.

She has shown a great deal of interest and enjoyment from the spiritual aspect of knitting.
