This is a terrific brainstorming tool. Whenever I flip throught the cards, the ideas start popping up out of nowhere. I've given decks to everyone on my staff. Now, we automatically flip throught them, whenever we are problem solving or looking for new ideas. This is the best tool for creative thinking that I have ever seen.

I've been using this pack for about a year now as a tool for finding lateral solutions to creative situations. I compose music and the symbolic achetypes which Michael Michalko uses to categorise his Thinkpak cards feed into the creative process seamlessly.
If you want more specific advice then turn the card over and read an excellent situation which may relate to or challenge the way that you're thinking about your own situation.
I also use Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies.

This is a very practical tool for use in brainstorming sessions when you are brainstorming for ideas alone or in a group. The ideas start coming almost involuntarily as you flip through the cards. I keep a deck at my desk and have become addicted to its use.

This brainstorming card deck is fully based on the SCAMPER method. And this method allows "looking" differently at any topic. As long as you are happy with using the SCAMPER method only, this set will do great. If you are eager to look beyond the SCAMPER method, this card deck might be too limiting.

The cards are well designed and nicely packed in a strong box for easy handling.

The cards covering evaluation techniques are quite powerful as they cover briefly methods like "the Walt Disney method", Flip a coin, DeBono's pos/neg/interesting, etc...handy to know about and to use!

SCAMPER:
Substitute something
Combine it something else
Adapt something to it
Magnify or Modify it
Put to other Uses
Eliminate something / Minify
Rearrange or Reverse it

Thinkpak consists of 56 cards + Instructions:
- Card 1: Reference list of SCAMPER method
- Card 2: Thinkpak guidelines - Basic techniques
- Cards 3-47: Idea stimulator
- Cards 48-56: Techniques for idea evaluation (DeBono's pos/neg/interesting, Walt Disney's method, Mapping, Flip a coin, etc...)

Contents "Instructions for using the brainstorming card deck":
- What is Thinkpak
- The Thinkpak cards
- Thinking about your subject
- Group brainstorming
- More inspiration
- Summary

These cards are a distillation of the SCAMPER brainstorming technique; each card contains a `question' or a thought to be applied during brainstorming activities. The cards are nearly a word for word breakdown of the SCAMPER method as described in the Thinkertoys book. The pack comes with a small booklet which describes various way of using the cards and in addition it contains a number of cards detailing how to assess the results of the brainstorming.

If you are short of time and want an `instant' brainstorming process then these cards are very good. If you have more time buy the thinkertoys book and develop your own brainstorming approach; the book is packed with other methods and techniques.

I have given these cards 3 stars as there is nothing really new over the book and so aren't the best value for money.

This is just a pack of cards with ideas on them. Now that might seem pretty easy to create your own - but these do cover the ground without you always thinking, "I wonder if there's something I've missed". The big thing with using a tool like this is you need to remember that you still have to do the work and the thinking - it's not a short cut - it's a tool. So, as far as being a tool and not an answer, it's great and there's not much ele out there at this sort of price. For a tenner what have you got to lose? It's not my only tool - but it's been with me for about ten years now and always handy to use when I need it.

Attractively packaged and useful to get the ball rolling when generating ideas. The cards are a version of an exercise in Thinkertoys by the same author. The cards are portable and useful to carry around but the book has more to offer

This deck is a condensed version of the Thinkertoys book in a way - and comes with its own mini-booklet describing each 'Thinkertoy', and suggestions on how to use the deck.

I like practical hands-on tools and don't always have time to wade through books to find what I need (although I am reading Thinkertoys in conjunction with this item), so this pack and booklet is ideal for me.

When I have a problem without an obvious solution, I find that shuffling the cards and drawing out a random suggestion very useful.

Using tools like this does take some effort however. The cards don't offer solutions but rather suggest different ways of approaching the problem - which in itself requires brainsweat in order to apply the suggestion creatively.

I haven't used the cards in a team environment but can easily see how they could be very useful for generating ideas in such a situation.

The cards are of a good quality, come with an instruction booklet and are housed in a sturdy box.

I have not yet had a chance to "use this in anger" but just reading through the instructions and reviewing the cards themselves has given me plenty of new ways of thinking. The tool can be used yourself as a manager/ project leader or as part of a brainstorming session or project planning event. It is easy to use and will encourage people to think differently - useful if you are returning to a familiar problem. It is small enough to fit into a pocket and provides a novel, interesting and entertaining approach to thinking up new ideas

I expected a lot more from this. The way it is advertised let me believe that nobody could innovate without it. Save your money and Learn SCAMPER. There is a lot of material on the Internet for free.
