1.0 out of 5 stars It took a lot of coffee to stay awake.
A turgid read, with lots of promise and very little delivery. The principle purpose of this book seems to be to show how clever the author is.

Love the coffee, loved the book. But I think the Starbuck's metaphor is a bit forced at times, pity. There are some real gems in this book - on authenticity: "rather than merely seeking experiences of God, we are invited to become living expressions of God". On the church: "would you recommend us to a friend?" (ouch!) And his comments on church being overtaken by the likes of Starbucks as people's third place of social connection (third after family and work) resonate strongly. Read it and see what I mean.
