You must have an internet connection in order to be reading this; using your search engine of preference, search for official zentangles, when you find the masses of sites which have them, including that hosted by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, you can either print the pattern instructions directly, or copy, save, and print them.

Suzanne Macneill's books are nothing more than pamphlets 19 pages long, including the covers. In my humble opinion, they're not worth buying. If you're beyond basic tangles and looking for books to take you further, there are many others on Amazon far better than these.

I hate being so negative, but that is my personal opinion. Others have every right to disagree.

I was disappointed to find this was a very thin book. It seemed much fatter and with plenty of content than what it actually is. It is VERY basic; I should have believed what I read - it is called 'basics' after all! I didn't find anything that I didn't already know - its just a load of wiggly lines and hatching; something I have done all my life without realising I was doing 'Zentangles'! If you already doodle then this book is not for you, in fact, this book seems rather pointless.

I was eagerly anticipating this book - I've only just discovered Zentangles and am enjoying having a go. I was very disappointed when this arrived. I know it gives you the size etc in the blurb but I hadn't really thought about how little 20 pages are when you're expecting a book! I would be more inclined to describe this as a booklet and I think as such it's really expensive at £5.39. I didn't learn anything that I haven't already picked up on one of the online sites like tanglepatterns.com.

I bought this as an intro to the latest craze in USA but its aimed at primary kids and way too "basic" - very disapointed especilaly given the price - its a pamphlet not a book!

It's my own fault, I forgot to check how many pages this book contained. So I was disappointed when it arrived on my doorstep looking more like a thin magazine than a book. I didn't think the content was all that great, and the whole thing only gave me one real idea of something to try.
On the whole a bit of a let down, especially when considering I could have got a book for the same price.

This book was a very good introduction to Zentangle.

The graphics are clear as are descriptions. This was a cheap book which is enough to pay for the introduction.

It is easy to follow and enough to pay for those who will not get away with the art of Zentangle. This art for can be scary at first but a short leap of faith can show some brilliant results.

Thanks to this, I am hooked.

when it says it's basic it's not lying. though this book isn't particularly expensive even what it does cost is too much for the content. a penny would be too much. and beware because ms mcneill and friends have put together a series of these "books" and they're not worth a penny combined. if you really want to start out with the zentangle craze purchase one zentangle a day: a 6 week course and 101 zentangle patterns and you will be ahead of the what the likes of this have to offer by a huge margin and save some money to boot.

This booklet is a very disappointing buy as I was hoping for something lot more detailed. The descriptions of the drawings are very limited, the drawings themselves are poor quality and the whole presentation seems aimed at young children or adults who are very new to and unsure of things arty.

I would rather visit the many, many zentangle websites where there are thousands of lovely, quirky inspirations.

But for the price what else should I have expected?!

This publication really should not be classified as a book. I don't think if I have ever seen a magazine this thin page wise.
Having said that the content is OK page wise but it still does not justify the price at all. Plus 'zentangle' has been around since I don't know when everyone called it doodling.

Yes, I suppose it does cover the basics, as it claims, but I was rather disappointed overall. I know it does say in the description how many pages there are, but I was somewhat taken aback at how very few pages there are for the cost of the book. I wouldn't say don't buy it, but don't buy it if you are really interested in getting into Zentangles in a big way, I think there are better books out there which would give more information and be better value for money.
