5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the adventurous intermediate or experienced, 25 April 2001

This review is from: "Vogue Knitting": Designer Knits (Hardcover)
This book is absolutely fabulous! There is a wide range of patterns that look as good today was when they were first issued. There was such a wide range of choice, I had a really tough time chosing my first project.
These sweaters tend to be a bit dressier and are great for the 'smart' casual office. I would not recommend this to beginners or impatient knitters, because there is quite a bit of shaping involved and if you get frustrated when you have to tear out a few rows when you make a mistake ... that folksy one from Adrienne Vittadini will drive you barmy!
It you want a great sweater and a bit of a challenge then buy this book.

The book may be now a good few years old, but the majority of the designs inside are as fresh as ever, classic, fashionable and elegant, living up to the book's Vogue label. A great variety of designers are giving the knitter/reader the opportunity to knit from patterns by DKNY to Missoni and Perry Ellis via many others, which have all stood the test of time and feel very up to the minute. I have already selected several for my project list, as there are plenty of beautiful designs, interesting, challenging and enjoyable for the knitter, great to wear and to be admired in.

Some knitters may want to update the pattern of choice by using current designer yarns and their colours, a good quality yarn shop will always be happy to help, most advanced knitters will be able to visualise how a garment will look in an alternative yarn/colour choice, also swatching can help here a good deal.

The book is not intended for the complete beginner, but for the knitter, who wants to advance their skill set in a chic, fashionable manner. I can whole-heartedly recommend this book, I therefore can give this book the full 5 stars.
