5.0 out of 5 stars Women of Sufism
Women have been very important in Sufism and this well-presented book shows it clearly. It has been edited by a woman who herself is connected to a Sufi order. Women have been very important in Sufism and this well-presented book shows it clearly. It has been edited by a woman who herself is connected to a Sufi order. She has taken care to collect a number of pearls who are arranged in a beautiful way. The several articles are certainly appealing to modern people in the Western world. It is said that the divine can best be experienced in women. If this is true then this book offers a valuable key.

I've read and re-read this book many times, and recommended it to other people. It explores female Islamic mystics through the centuries, with sources drawn from many authors and interviews. It's fascinating, you couldn't ask for a better overview of sufism I think, it goes way beyond simply giving a view of women. You see the depth and texture of different practices, woven across the whole world.
