This review qwas written at a time when there were several negative reviews of this book which thankfully have since been removed...hence the edit.
It is apparent to me that several of the reviewers fail to understand the core meaning and language of this book and its authors, The language of Tantra can only be fully understood by someone whose "there" already, it will make little sense to someome who wishes to appear learned or aquire information. it is concerning the very heart blood of Tantra, just because you can't understand the the vajra language or comprehend Emptyness and form, does not make the practices described within any the less real, this book is a very potent tool for enlightenment and is not meant to be understood by the intellect.
there are a lot of buddhist practitioners who may find this book extremely helpfull as part of there practice, for others it will mean nothing. that does not in any way question the authenticity of the Lamas or their ARO linieage, Ngakpa Chogyam is a recognised Terton, and teacher of Dzogchen and Tibetan Tantra, and anyone having ever visited the himalayan regions and witnessed Tibetan Tantric practices will know that the visual element is KEY to the Lama's transmission so YES there are alot of implements and rituals involved in Tantra, and yes the lama's do were clothing that may seem strange to the uneducated western eye, but they are a very neccessery part of the whole package.
So yes DO buy this book but not just so that you can appear learned or intelligent about tantra, because thats NOT what this book is about.
to truly understand this book you will need to LET GO of the need to UNDERSTAND everything that is written, there are many more important things to know so give your intellect a rest and read it with an OPEN MIND and allow understanding to appear of its own accord.
