5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent set of essays, 27 July 2013
This review is from: The Twenty Guiding Principles of Karate: The Spiritual Legacy of the Master (Hardcover)
In this volume each of Funakoshi's 20 precepts is treated in a concise and thoughtful manner which encourages the student to reflect on the philosophical aspect of their training (a side which can be too easily forgotten!). These essays are of the highest quality and display a deep understanding of, and respect for, the Do-ist (Daoist) influence upon bujutsu after the Meiji restoration and for the thought of Master Funakohi himself. Whether as an addition to an existing library or a stand alone training aid it is difficult to recommend this book too highly.
