4.0 out of 5 stars THE definitive guide on Final Fantasy VII.
One of the most anticipated RPGs ever, Final Fantasy VII is a classic game. A classic game deserves a classic strategy guide, and Brady Games' FF7 guide is nearly unbeatable. Whatever you're looking for or need help on, this book has it.
This version of the guide is especially for the PC version of FF7, but I have the PlayStation version and it works just fine...

3.0 out of 5 stars great strategy guide but lacking in a couple areas. . .
This is a great strategy guide. It covers everything that one would want to know, like how to get to certain places in the game, how to get items that one would have otherwise missed and how to effectively and efficiently do mini quests and games. This guide has all this but one thing that it seems to have missed the point was on the sections on how to beat bosses...

4.0 out of 5 stars THE definitive guide on Final Fantasy VII., 9 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
One of the most anticipated RPGs ever, Final Fantasy VII is a classic game. A classic game deserves a classic strategy guide, and Brady Games' FF7 guide is nearly unbeatable. Whatever you're looking for or need help on, this book has it.
This version of the guide is especially for the PC version of FF7, but I have the PlayStation version and it works just fine with that too. The tips and tactics are solid, the screenshots crisp and clear, and the information on Materia and Chocobos contained in this book is invaluable for gamers ready to master Final Fantasy VII.
One complaint that gamers may have with the guide is that in some areas of the game, there isn't really much detail or tips to get you through. Overall, this may be a good thing, because it doesn't give away too much of the story, but for certain areas the guide may just say something along the lines of, "Find the exit, making sure to pick up the items along the way". However, this is the only real situation where this happens.
A consise, thick, and well-worth-your-money book, Brady Games' official Final Fantasy VII strategy guide (boy, that's a mouthful) is a must-have for fans of the game, and gamers who want to get the most bang for their buck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aeris Level 4 limit break before she dies !, 6 July 2000
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
This is the only book you will need ever yo play Final Fantasy VII, there is a part in the game where you have to find a sleeping old man, you can find him in a cave near Junon, you need to visit him to get Aeris Ultimate limit break, in the book it tell you that you can only get there by the highwind or gold/blue chocobo, this is not true you can use the buggy as well, drive in costa del so, get on the boat get out of Junon and drive across the river into the cave, sorted and you'll have Aeris limit break on disc 1 (while shes still alive) other that that this is a must have buy now.....final fantasy rules

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply ranks at the top of must-haves for all RPG fans., 19 Nov 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
If you grade yourself as an RPG fan, and have not heard of Final Fantasy VII, then you might as well have not been born. What more can I say about the game? Despite some people having technical problems loading the game, it simply "rocks this joint". Anyhow, on the book, it is simply too good to be true. The amount of comprehensive information to be found is simply amazing. Even if you are new to the game and do not wish to have spoilers lowering your "fun" value, you will still find it truly informative. Just exercise a little self-control and skip the walkthrougs.
But be warned. Approach this book with a pinch of salt. Don't think EVERYTHING is going to be handed over to you on a silver platter. So don't go pointing fingers at David just because you find insufficient Materia combos listed, or strategies. Use your initiative. Anything is possible. You are the master of your own game.
For your info, I am currently working on the Lucky 7s combo. Email to me and I will send the combo as and when I figure it out. It's not too hard, really.
Anyway, here's to you guys, simply a work of art, and I am not only talking about the game.

3.0 out of 5 stars great strategy guide but lacking in a couple areas. . ., 28 Oct 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
This is a great strategy guide. It covers everything that one would want to know, like how to get to certain places in the game, how to get items that one would have otherwise missed and how to effectively and efficiently do mini quests and games. This guide has all this but one thing that it seems to have missed the point was on the sections on how to beat bosses. Every time one needs to know how to beat a certain boss they get a overly complicated somewhat twisted explaination which can be frusterating (especially for beginners). Other than that (which is a major part of any strategy guide) this it is a great and useful item to have and first timers and rookies will appreciate it and will have a memorable experience and will defianately continue playing other Square RPG's. While this is great for beginners I believe that a true RPG player (such as myslef) will have no trouble at all playing and finishing FF7, it is still useful in some areas. If however one does not find a simple and efficient method to kill the weapons then go to Ron's RPG Homepage. There one will have the advantage over the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book for all players of Final Fantasy 7, 20 Nov 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
This is a great book to use. Just about everything you need to know is in here. All the materias, limit breaks, a bunch of materia combinations, and strategy is in this book. There are a few things missing however. Take for example: Not all of the weapons are included. Some of the chocobo information is incorrect. There are lots of mistakes too: I don't think all the enemies are listed. The ones that are listed, many of their stats are incorrect (Master Tonberry does not have 8000 HP, it's actually about 40,000 HP). If you want to get really technical, some of the pictures used are incorrect, but for the most part, it's all right. This book is great for helping you get through the game. A few more small details could have been included (like what's up with those 1/35 soldiers?), but as far as greatness goes, this is the book to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best game ever!!!!, 6 Nov 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
There's is just too much to say about final fantasy VII. There are so many diffrent weapons, materia, armore, and other items. The summon materias are the ones with the best graphics out of the whole game. If you buy this game and receive the buhamut zero materia I'm pretty sure you'll think it's the best one. The limit breaks give you a bit of excitement when you get the next level limit break. The story is more like a movie than a story which makes you feel like your in the game and makes the game even more exciting. If you are a begginer then the game will take you probably more than 1 or 2 weeks to finish but if your going to get everything then I'd be prepared to be there for a long time and good luck!!! But getting everything does make the game even more interesting so it's very worth while.
ps. It's just simply the best!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Brady gives a fair amount of info, but in a cumbersome way., 2 July 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
Unlike other hint and guide books, Brady compartmentalizes his information into characters, materia and stages, with maps at the end of the book. While all the information is there, its frustrating to have to flip through the book to find the map, then flip back to the specific scene/chapter you're in, all the while fending off various creatures. A former FF guide book for console was much better organized with maps and character info relevant to a specific chapter all together. Regardless, the book is better than nothing and, at the bundled price with the game, it is unthinkable to try FF VII without it. Until something better comes along, (the "Unofficial Guide" perhaps?), this'll do.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book was never checked by the company, 26 Nov 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
FF7 is great.. In this book, it gives you some miss information about Materia and where to find it. Sometimes it just tells you to "Go to the piggy thing" and you have no idea what the "Piggy thing" is! I think that they gave you a ton of information about most bosses. They do need some work on the two Sephiroths and the American Monsters. I think that they should really give the HP for the American Monsters and Sephiroths. On some of the enemys, they made typos. Where it said HP, it would say "Area" Mp, "Midgar."

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to kick in this game, 3 July 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
If you want to find all the secrets characters, all the hidden materia, all the items, All the special chocobos and discover the best tactics to defeating EVERY enemy in the game, I suggest you pick this book up IMMEADIATLY. With the help of this book, I had all my characters at top level, with 9999 hit points and 99 magic points. I defeated the very last boss in only 2 turns of my party. That was truley a monumental accomplishment, considering how hard the boss was the first time I beat it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awsome Stratedy Guide!!!!, 3 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Official Final Fantasy VII Strategy Guide: v. 2 (Official Strategy Guides) (Paperback)
I bought the game and I was having a bit of trouble with it, and as usual for almost any game I buy that I like I buy a S.G. With this S.G. I was able to get through the game easier, equip the right Materia, get ALL the charchters that I could(Hidden Charchters i.e.: Yuffie and Vincent), and even go on small side quests that this S.G. told me about. Even if you have already played and beat this game, I HIGHLY recomend this S.G. it might help you discover new things that are there.
