5.0 out of 5 stars An engrossing read
This is the perfect example of how superhuman stories should be written. The main character is a super-villain, newly paroled, trying to find meaning within a difficult world. You can find a real connection with the characters and there is a reality which is not often found within this genre. I would thorougly recommend this book to anyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Colourful and Characterful
This is a well constructed, well drawn, enjoyable little story about steeljack, a super-powered small time criminal who turns hero when his neighbourhood of fellow criminals is threatened. The author has created interesting characters in a nicely detailed backdrop. Unfortunately it has the artyness of the watchmen and the depth of sin city rather than the other way...

This review is from: The Tarnished Angel (Kurt Busiek's Astro City) (Paperback)
This is a well constructed, well drawn, enjoyable little story about steeljack, a super-powered small time criminal who turns hero when his neighbourhood of fellow criminals is threatened. The author has created interesting characters in a nicely detailed backdrop. Unfortunately it has the artyness of the watchmen and the depth of sin city rather than the other way around. Recommend it as a fairly straight forward comic.

This review is from: The Tarnished Angel (Kurt Busiek's Astro City) (Paperback)
The art in Astro City is always beautiful and this story flows very well with a few twists and turns on the way. As always, the superheroics aren't the focus of the story, merely a backdrop for the more human stories of desperation and hope that are common to all.
