3.0 out of 5 stars Complex Interweaving of Chastisement Themes, 15 May 2009

This review is from: Birch Fever (Paperback)
Although this book just about fits the description as a sorority-scenario spanking novel it certainly aspires to higher ideals, even if its attempts to realise these ideals seem at times to be mechanistic, even perhaps a little perfunctory. There are certainly some delights in the writing style. The book is the last of a group of four, complemented by `Summer Frolics', Autumn Scandals', and `Spring Fevers'. Several storylines are interwoven here, some of them rather reminiscent of the style of P N Dedeaux, including an extended scene in `The Territory', and one expanding the chastisement potential of `Jane Eyre' in the manner of the master! It does take some concentration to keep separate the various fictional strands, but there are juicy compensatory moments provided as a balance. There is even an extended chastisement session involving a young male `target', as well as the more usual inclination of the genre towards well-upholstered young ladies.
