The first book I ever read from Christie Golden was Dance of the Dead, and it's an equisite introduction to an amazing writer.
Set in a world of pure nightmare given flesh and horrifying reality, it's reminiscent of the mysticism and otherworldly occult lore of New Orleans - and the Voodoo tales of Zombies and the Undead. Combined with an edge of high fantasy, centering around a dark romance between the a gypsy-like heroine and a mysterious stranger whose lusts are at the center of an eternal curse.
I recommend this novel for ANYONE who has an interest in Occult Fantasies, Anne Rice novels...heck, I straight out recommend this book to EVERYONE! :)
