Excellent book,

This review is from: The Secret of Perfect Vision: How You Can Prevent and Reverse Nearsightedness (Paperback)
I am so pleased that I discovered Mr Angelis' brilliant book "The Secret of Perfect Vision" in September 2008.My vision at the time was -4.75 D in both eyes. I started doing the exercises straight away as best as I could, as I was willing to try anything to stop the gradual worsening of my vision. To my surprise and pleasure, a recent eye test, only a few months later in December, has shown that my vision had improved to -4.0 (left eye) and -3.75 with 0.25 astigmatism (right eye). Although this method takes patience and regular practice, I feel that it is completely worth it because my vision is now the best it's been in years. I intend to continue doing the exercises to improve my vision to the maximum that I can achieve. All the best to those of you who are looking for ways to improve your vision. There are many excellent programs out there on natural vision therapy, but for me, this has been by far the most effective. I am most grateful to Mr Angelis for writing this outstanding book, and warmly recommend it to everybody.

I have found out about vision improvement methods a month ago from yahoo answers. This was something I was looking for ever since I turned nearsighted but I could never type the right keywords on google. As a result, I carried on wearing the prescribed lenses by my optician, which worsened my vision to what it is now, -4.50D, on both eyes.At first, I purchased "Improve your vision without glasses or contact lenses" book. Unfortunately, this one lacked detail on the exercises and why the methods work. I looked for more books for a better strategy and I came across this book. At first I thought it was something similar to the other books, but the reviews from its customers stated that it was currently the best one out there for vision improvement (check out the US version of the book for more reviews). I have read the book myself and am glad I found it. It looks like he's proved why myopia occurs using scienfific reasons and evidence. The best thing about this book is that axial myopia can be corrected using his methods. He's shown that the eye has the ability to adapt. Let's give an example. For years, if you do prolonged periods of close work, you get myopia, right? It gets worse, the more close work you do. The eye can even elongate, which results in axial myopia. This is evidence that the eye has the ability to adapt to its stimulus. He's using this principle to reverse this elongation. Elongated eyeballs can be shortened using retinal defocus training. I would like to let you (the reader and the world) know that if you have myopia, you can clear it, regardless of how bad it is. Don't think that if you have axial myopia, you can't achieve 20/20 vision. You can, using the methods in this book. In a nutshell, the author's method is eye exercises with retinal defocus training (this is the main part). If you have high myopia e.g. above -3.00, you need to use weak glasses (undercorrection) depending on how high it is (for -3.00D eyes, -1.00 glasses is recommended). Use positive lenses when defocus training for low myopia e.g. -1.00. Please remember you have to be motivated to get improvements. I hope more people can discover this method and work their way to clear their distance vision completely. Please do not believe that elongated eyes can't be shortened. If you do, I am positive your opinion will change once you read the book.

I came across this book from a recommendation in a forum. I have been short sighted since I was in my teens and I have worn glasses or contacts most of my adult life. I was a bit skeptical but I thought I would by the book and give it a try.The author goes into some depth about the anatomy of the eye and the theory behind his method. His method comes down to a series exercises that can be done in a few minutes combined with training your eyes to focus over longer distances while reading. He recommends using long sighted glasses to train the eyes. Six months ago I stopped using my glasses and started following the methods daily. When I started I could just make out words on the computer screen with my left eye from say 18 inches away. I needed about 9 inches distance to read with my right eye. Today I can read words on the screen from over 3 feet away with my left eye and from about 1 1/2 feet away from my right eye. I do not yet have perfect vision but I continue to follow the method and continue to make small but gradual progress. I should say that I did not use the long sighted glasses as recommended but tried to train my eyes to read at the limit of their range. As someone who lifts weights his methodology made intuitive sense to me and I felt from the outset that it could work. The muscles in the body can be trained to lift much more than a person's bodyweight. Why can't the muscles of the eye be similarly trained? It seems amazing to me that this method works but the information is not out there. I guess it comes down to the fact that the method is so simple - the exercises and training can be grasped in a few minutes - that it is hard to make money out of it and thus no incentive to market it. I would recommend anyone reading this to buy the book. What have you got to lose? The alternatives in contact lenses or laser surgery carry small but significant risks of infection or permanent impairment as well as being much more expensive. I am very grateful to the author for writing this book. My only regret is that I did not come across this information many years ago.

This is a very interesting book about how and why myopia occurs and what can be done to prevent, reduce and even cure it. I have started the basic exercises and find that my vision is improving. One thing which I found very interesting is that each time I got updated lenses I was told that I would get used to the distortion I felt when wearing them but it was infact due to the lenses being slightly stronger which forces your eyes to be more myopic in order for you to focus and see properly. The book is wordy and the terminology can confuse you abit but hey you get to learn about something new! I only really bought the book because I was watching a youtube video by elliot hulse who did a brief caption on how we could improve our vision in the same way as improving our fitness and strength. So fought I should find out if there are methods which have been used. Im a -5.00 on both eyes so im keen to see if these techniques improve my vision even a little!

The Secret of Perfect Vision,
This review is from: The Secret of Perfect Vision: How You Can Prevent and Reverse Nearsightedness (Paperback)
I bought this book some time ago and still haven't finished it yet. It is extremely hard going... the author professes not to be a trained optician but the book is full of technical jargon and I find I have to read everything several times to get close to understanding. I also find the instructions difficult to follow. All in all, the book isn't what I expected. I think you'd be much better off with Bates' original Better Sight Without Glasses which, although written 70 years ago or more is much easier to follow.

I have used the exercises described in the book for one year and have cleared my eyesight from -3.00/-2.00 to vision that's good enough not to need glasses except for nighttime driving. I can now read the 20/20 line on the Snellen chart on most days, and my vision is still improving. At this time last year I was at 20/50 and my goal was 20/20. Now my goal is 20/10 for next year! In the process of reading the book and following its method, I have learned an enormous amount about the eyes and how they function. I particularly like the fact that the training is mostly muscular, and that through it you learn to feel, isolate, activate and strengthen individual eye muscles, which eventually puts you in control of your eyes instead of at their mercy. The only negative thing about the book is the patchy quality of the English translation. At times the writing is so obscure as to be incomprehensible. Although I would not normally give a poorly written book five stars, in this case it's not the fault of the author and it's the content that counts. Anything that can restore your focusing power, as this book helps you to do, is worth a whole sky full of stars! Fortunately the book is supplemented by a useful forum where followers of the programme can discuss their experiences, and there are some truly excellent instructional online videos showing the correct way to do the exercises, all of which are available free on the Internet. To find such generosity in an author is rare indeed, and I hope he will be rewarded by the recognition he deserves. I also hope that the medical establishment will come to accept that it is possible to cure axial myopia.

A scam,
This review is from: The Secret of Perfect Vision: How You Can Prevent and Reverse Nearsightedness (Paperback)
This book is about how to improve shortsightedness. It isn't very well written. For example, it explains what myopia, hyperopia and emmetropic eyesight is several times and yet not other technical words such as "binocular fusion". It gives exercises to improve your vision, but they are written in very technical wording and are very hard to understand.I went onto the forum for this book to look for some answers. I was going to give this book 3 stars, but I've decided to give it one star because of the forum. I was a bit taken aback, because I had sent a couple of messages asking for clarification of the exercises, and I was accused of "hijacking a thread", and posting "a long list of you initial problems", and was told "This isn't a service hotline". The author himself wasn't rude to me, but another "expert". It is a real shame - I really wanted to at least slow down my eyesights deterioration, and I thought it was great that someone might have had the right idea of how to go about it. Instead, I've wasted £15 because I didn't learn a thing. I only learned that (supposedly) short-sightedness can be completely reversed, even when the eyeball has elongated. When I eventually worked out what his "Power Vision System" exercises were - they basically involved stretching the eye's outer muscles, and a Bates exercise. That's it. It is laughable. This guy isn't even qualified - the book actually says this.

This review is from: The Secret of Perfect Vision: How You Can Prevent and Reverse Nearsightedness (Paperback)
This book is targeted at the opticians, rather than the general public. Most of the book is about details of why the exercises work, with plenty of technical terms, and references to the different muscle groups in the eyes, which I could not remember or understand. The section of the book on how to do the actual exercises is rather small, and is not very clearly written for the general public. For example he talks about using positive or negative lenses, which I do not know which one is which and where to get them from.Altogether it has raised some awareness of how important it is to do the eye exercises. But I already knew that. That is why I bought the book. However, the section on what exercises to do could be improved substantially.
