This review is from: My Son Divine (Paperback)
This book is very very good.
I've also read "Not Simply Divine" from Divine's manager and the story here sounds very different.
Divine's mother does not agree with Bernard Jay and her story regarding her son's life is a lot different.
Divine is depicted as a very gentle, affable man as well as very shy and unwilling to mix private and business life. In some parts, on the other hand, the main character of the book seems to be Divine's mother herself.
On the whole this book is very good and interesting if you want to know something about the unknown Divine at the beginning of his career.
A life which wasn't easy at all and ended when success was knocking on the door. A real pity indeed. Nobody can deny that Polyester and Hairspray are really good movies. Buy them and read the book!!!
