HELP in a clear and unpatronising manner,

This review is from: Mr. Right is Out There: The Gay Man's Guide to Finding and Maintaining Love (Paperback)
I am going to recommend this book to every gay man I know! By just locating where you have been going wrong this book should be commended. It has been written to help identify where YOU have been going wrong and what YOU can do about. With self tests abounding you will soon have goals set that are unique to yourself and easily acheivable. Now why wasn't this book available 10 years ago? I now, at the tender age of 30, feel finally armed ready for a healthy relationship with my own Mr Right. With a little bit of work it will turn out just fine

Excellent. no-nonsense approach to finding love & happiness,

This review is from: Mr. Right is Out There: The Gay Man's Guide to Finding and Maintaining Love (Paperback)
Having read several titles purporting to assist the reader in `finding Mr. Right', I was delighted to come across Dr George's wonderful book. Half-anticipating, dare I say, the usual Amercianised psychobabble, I soon warmed to the author's common-sense approach which belies its insightful and profound messages. Giving lessons learned from his own life & relationships, as well as from his professional career in counselling, Dr George's strategies will provide enormous help and encouragement to gay men everywhere. A book fit to be read, and then re-read for its valuable contribution to negotiating the emotional minefield that is a modern relationship. This book should take pride of place on every gay guy's bookshelf.

No book - our counsellor - can make your decisions for you but I found this book really helpful in coming to terms with a very difficult relationship issue. For a start, it desribes and analyses character, behaviour and motivation and illustates the points with (fictional) life stories. Then, it gives you criteria for both assessing others and, even more usefully, yourself and what you might need to do to change. Above all, it has helped give me courage to be the person I am inside and, most difficult, to get out there and do something about it. As the book says, the only way to meet Mr Right is to go out and meet other men and lay yourself open to a relationship.

Useful if patronising...,

Well, it's quite good and helpful in places (in a stating-the-obvious kind of a way) but it's VERY patronising and does nothing for ones confidence. I really don't recommend it.
