5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Gives information about forgotten victims of the Holocaust, 26 April 2009

This book was very interesting and touching. It chronicles the life of one man who was thrown into the jaws of the Nazi death machine and emerged out the other end alive. It is a testament to those who have been all but forgotten in all the stories of Holocaust horror and one that should be told. It is a disgrace to western society that the men of the Pink Triangle have been so systematically ignored and that many of them even had to continue the punishments meted out to them by the Nazis under the Allied "liberators".

This is a story that must be told. To deliberately ignore the stories and the suffering of any group of people in the Holocaust is to perpetuate and affirm the bigotry that placed them there in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Men With The Pink Triangle, 12 Mar 2009

This review is from: The Men with the Pink Triangle (Paperback)
Harrowing account of a time not so long ago, when homosexuals were punished because they dared to love. The men with the Pink Triangle suffered before and after the Nazi Regime and were one of the only groups not to receive compensation for the torture they suffered. Men suffered because they dared to love and in todays age homosexuals are still not afforded the equal rights in love of our hetrosexual brothers and sisters. A must read for anyone interested in our history. Shocking, moving and humbling. The Men with the Pink Triangle: The True Life-And-Death Story of Homosexuals in the Nazi Death Camps

5.0 out of 5 stars A reminder of what has been - and what still persists, 29 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A shocking and harrowing account of man's cruelty to his fellow man, born out of ignorance and prejudice. Books like this should be available to all in China, the Middle East, and Africa - for in 20 years time will we not be reading the same things written about gay life under, for example, the Mugabe regime?

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for every gay man, 16 Feb 2011
The book is readable and short. It is not some academic discourse. It is one man's experience of irrational hatred and trying to come to terms with it. Such books are very important in making the gay community aware that many have suffered just because of who they are and for no other reason. The Jewish dead rightly have a Community which can keep the memory of such violence and prejudice alive as a warning - this book goes some way to warning those who take their alternative sexual freedom for granted that they will always be in the minority. Tides can go out as well as in. Essential reading.
