Having read Daniels' book on Journey, which I really enjoyed, he turns his attention to Neal Schon. This is not a biography and nor does it purport to be anything but a guider to the music of Journey's underrated guitarist. Daniels is clearly a Journey fan and loves AOR. He details each album as well as the various side projects Schon has been involved in such as Hardline and Bad English and there are interviews with Ricky Phillips and Jeff Scott Soto amongst others. I really enjoyed this book - it doesn't claim to be definitive. As the title says, it's a casual guide, and as such its a handy reference work. There are lots of reviews, interviews and detailed timelines and discographies and a foreword by Robert Fleischman who originally fronted Journey. I enjoyed this book a lot and it sits comfortably next to Daniels' Journey bio on my bookshelf.
