The Kidpower Safety Comic isn't just for children, but for their adults as well. This includes parents, grandparents, teachers childminders etc. The beauty of the comic is how it's designed so that adults read it with their children and it encourages healthy and guided discussion on what can be some quite tricky and touchy subjects. For adults it shows you how to coach children and encourage their development. You'll find it hard not to start treating children with a lot more respect, it's so easy in busy modern life to relegate these 'little people' to 2nd class citizens, telling them what to do/not do rather than taking the time to teach them (which actually does save time in the longer term!). There is a section at the front that tells you how to positively coach your children through positive reinforcement, rather than tricking or scaring them.
For kids (and this is the main goal of the book) the stories demonstrate how kids can set boundaries for appropriate behaviour, act more assertive to stay safe and increase awareness. The stories clearly illustrate when it is ok to talk to strangers (lost in a shop?), how rules are different in emergancies (kitchen on fire? should we let the fireman in?) and there is a brilliant story on accepting compliments rather than throwing the away. The use of illustration allows for a lot of information to be given visually and because it's illustration rather than photo's it's very ageless and inoffensive.
