5.0 out of 5 stars great condition
great condition, very detailed book and includes pictures of certain visual arts and architecture, clear accessible font + not even that heavy

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting topic, badly written
I bought this book for my Patterns and Culture course taught by the Author. The book has come in useful for the course but it is a very slow read, written like a thesis rather than a book to explain the basics of patterns and culture and spends far too much time referencing other sources than explaining the subject matter

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough and Informative, 16 May 2014
This review is from: Symbol, Pattern and Symmetry: The Cultural Significance of Structure (Paperback)
Professor Hann has covered a range of topics in this book which relate to the undergraduate module he is teaching at the University of Leeds. I feel that the material is pitched at an easy-to-understand level, exploring many topics in great depth with an intense level of enthusiasm. The range of visuals made available in the book allows for a better understanding of the discussions in each chapter. He also gives a range of references to important texts which discuss the topics in further detail.
My only complaint is the lack of information regarding Egyptian structure and form and the involvement of Egyptian culture, with particular reference to the Rosetta Stone.
