5.0 out of 5 stars recommended author. a must read., 29 April 2013
This review is from: What Is M.E.? (Paperback)
I would very much only recommend two authors, Jodi Bassett and Dr Byron Hyde. Please know they write the scientific truth, and are very clear that M.E. is not in any way the same as Cfs or M.E./Cfs. All others i have seen or read include incorrect things about Cfs or harmful concepts such as M.E./Cfs. Hyde is one of the only physicians who has done research knowing the differences. And Jodi Bassett's books include the best bits from books, research and such. She is amazing! See her site hfme. She covers all the actual medical facts, symptoms, history, etc, in a clear concise way, and helps fellow sufferers endlessly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Book on M.E., 9 May 2012
This review is from: What Is M.E.? (Paperback)
I have read lots of books, websites and research papers on M.E.

Of all the books I have read on M.E. this is the most informative, scientifically accurate and useful.

This book is essential reading for all G.P.s, nurses, patients with M.E and relatives of those affected by M.E.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: What Is M.E.? (Paperback)
Jodi is a powerful voice for the M.E.community and has a very informative website. She works really hard to explain the truth about myalgic encephalomyelitis with sound scientific evidence and facts. Therefore I was looking forward to getting this booklet as I wanted to give it to my G.P. and family members to read.

I was a little disappointed that the booklet seems to be made up from pages from Jodi's website. For this reason, the book is quite repetitive and certain paragraphs and chunks of information are repeated over and over throughout the book. However, taking into account that Jodi is very ill, this repetition is no bad thing. Perhaps it helps to get the point across.

There is a huge section on the politics of M.E. vs CFS. Another large section on M.E. vs M.S compares the similarities of both illnesses.

There are many titled subsections in each chapter. It would have been helpful if there had been an appendix with the page numbers to these subsections as Jodi frequently advised the reader to look up certain headings but this was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

That said, this is one of the most accurate, factual and informative books on myalgic encephalomyelitis. I would highly recommend anyone with M.E. to visit Jodi's hfme website and to purchase her book, Caring for the M.E. Patient which is the best book on M.E. available.

On the whole, this book contains some very useful and interesting facts about M.E. and is well worth buying to add to your M.E. resource books.
