5.0 out of 5 stars High quality stones book
Great photos on high quality paper, not the usual rerun photos but truly excellent ones from a concentrated period (1972)admittedly of limited interest to the casual fan but for those with a deep and abiding interest it's superb. Not much text here but i feel very little needed,a great addition for the afficiando.

2.0 out of 5 stars Split vote
Why split vote? Simples-this book has some of the best photos of The Stones when they were at their peak, taken in every possible setting, the tour jet, in concert, relaxing(or just plain passed out as in the case of Keef), unfortunately far too many of them are split over two pages with a big disappearing act going on in the middle of the picture.

Whoever thought that this layout was a good idea needs to wake up!!! They should be kicked out of their job as they are ruining someone elses work and others enjoyment. It would be great to see these pictures properly presented, one page per photo. In fact if this was done I would happily pay twice of the cost of this book to buy it. It is actually annoying to see most of what you know is a great photo and miss out the middle, unless you break the books back to see it. Arghhh!

An excellent value book. Only issue it could have been a larger format so star docked but I suppose reflects lower cost

5.0 out of 5 stars 1972 - their visual peak., 18 Aug 2013

Of all the years to capture the Rolling Stones, 1972 was pure vintage. Whilst casual fans may not find it interesting, the photos perfectly captured the period in which they were taken. From a design point of view, it was frustrating that many of the photos were split over two pages. However there perhaps was not enough material for a larger book - making this book larger may have cheapened the effect. It is the perfect gift for a die hard stones fan. So much so, I have already purchased a copy for the friend I hold responsible for my Stones infatuation.

Jim Marshall was an outstanding photographer. The selection of pictures in this publication demonstrate his skill.
As other reviewers have said, the book is let down by inappropriately small size. I hope that the book, or another related book might be released in a large scale 'deluxe' format by a company such as Taschen or Genesis Publications.
The photography in this book is fantastic and could only profit from making the photographs larger and make this publication a five star marvel.
