I teach drama classes to children of all ages. I bought this book trying to find some plays that were easy enough for the little ones to read and found exactly what I was looking for! Not only are there short, easy to read plays for younger children, there are also some that are a little more grown up, and very funny! I was able to find plays for all of my classes, ranging from ages 6-16. Marvellous!

This book was great for short plays and I will be using them with my drama club. Some, i think, are better for reading groups than performing, but I would recommend this book. The price is fantastic.

I bought this book to use in party bags for my 7 year old daughter and she wanted a copy as well when she saw it. I'm glad we bought another one as it's excellent. We have all of Julia Donaldson's books already as I love her writing and the plays are just as good. My four year old loves the Turtle Tug play so much that we ordered a copy of it on its own in a book so she could take it into school and perform with her reception class. We've done the same with Books and Crooks for my 7 year old and we must have now read that play about 12 times over as she loves it so much.

I bought this to adapt for a drama club I run during a regular lunch time slot at my school. I have around 16 Year 4 children in the club at present and this book has contained enough material for about a term. The Club have performed 3 of the plays to the whole school during an assembly and they were very well received. I was able to write in additional characters to keep the parts fair for groups of 5 children (Some of the plays are only for 4 ch.)

I have been teaching English to Spanish kids (aged 6-12) for a few years now, and I find this book great to get them into easy reading and vocabulary, body language and intonation. They absolutely love roleplaying these stories and even discussing their moral. The stories are arranged according to their length and degree of difficulty from the beginning to the end of the book. If you teach kids, this book is a must!

This book of plays has really hit the spot with my 6 year old. She's at just the right stage to read the text independently, which is important to her enjoyment. We have read 2 characters each for her bed time story and she even took the book to school last week and enlisted two pals to do a play with her! The words are simple, the plays are 5-8 minutes long in the first half of the book and have between 4 and 7 characters. They are entertaining as well.

I was looking forward to some good material for class assemblies , but was disappointed by new material appropriate for suggested age groups.

I am a creative supply teacher and have been using a number of the stories to create mini puppet shows. I particularly enjoyed performing 'The Wonderful smells' when I was doing a series about Chinese music as I had two antique Chinese puppets to help me perform it and lots of imagination for the rest.

An easily accessible book for drama practitioners working with under 10's!

Very simple playlets for younger children. The language used is simple and is good for those who find reading a challenge. However for my group it is a little juvenile. We have a couple of children who have reading difficulties, but who are really too old for the material in this book. I cannot see my 14 year old dyslexic member wanting to appear in any of these little plays. It is the old problem of making the interest level fit the age of the child, where a learning difficulty a problem.
