Even if you own the first edition, it is definitely worth buying the second. The chapters in which there are new ones, provide a great informative yet simple base to start from. Also there is the option, as students to access extra content via the Sage website. In my humble opinion A MUST BUY!

James has done a fantastic job with this book. He has taken the intimidation out of criminology and produced a refreshingly well written book for undergraduate students. This book should be on the reading lest of all criminology modules in HE

In this clear and accessible book Treadwell demystifies academic criminology and encourages students to investigate the broad panorama of crime and deviance. With useful tips on those issues that often trip up students new to the field, this book should be considered a 'must buy' for those wanting a staightforward, clear and unpretentious introduction to criminology.
