Hugely entertaining collection telling the story of Britain's vanished brews. A great book to dip in as each beer/ brewery is described over a couple of pages. The colour plates are very good - a splendid collection of beer advertisements, photos, beer mats and so on. As stated in another review - surely Volume 2 will be published soon?

An interesting collection of beers, many no longer available, some brewed in completely different locations to the original, and of course many breweries have been taken over and subsequently closed.

First time I had come across a comprehensive account of old beers and breweries.
Great nostalgia.
Highly recommended.
There must be room for a second book!

A really interesting collection of facts about former beers and breweries. I particularly like the illustrations both black and white and colour of ads, beer mats and labels..

Interesting book but a little lightweight.

Brian Glover is a highly respected beer historian and this is an excellent survey of once-famous brews, which anyone interested in beers and breweries from the past should have on their bookshelf.

As an ex brewer My husband was disappointed that the book did not cover all breweries and the beers that have been lost

This is a very enjoyable guide to some of the breweries and beers we have unfortunately lost . It is a great piece of social/industrial history . I loved the illustrations . A very nice little book , certainly there are ommissions , but it is a great introduction to the subject . Thoroughly recommended . I would readily welcome a second volume to expand the coverage . A super book .
