This review is from: The Magnificent Seven: London's First Landscaped Cemeteries (Paperback)
Yet another book on London's cemeteries that I have added to my book shelf!
As a guide at one of the 'Magnificent Seven' cemeteries, I tend to buy anything written about them to add to my collection. This is a worthy addition to my book shelf. Not too preachy or academic;plenty of pictures and information for any one interested in visiting these cemeteries.
There are bigger, more informative books out there, but this is ideal to slip into a bag (or big pocket) to dip in and out of on your travels.
Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dead centre of London, 29 May 2013

Great book for a taster of the 'magnificent 7' you don't need to be strange, morbid or emo/goth to enjoy these sites. Fantastic to see the workmanship and love that went in to industry of death in the Victorian era.
I'm not from town but live not too far out, another fantastic cemetery is Brookwood. It's a huge site a bit like Highgate, divided by a road but much bigger. Lots of interesting monuments and set in beautiful green space.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overview to the magnificent seven, 7 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book offers a good overview and guide to the seven cemeteries it studies. Plenty of photographs that illustrate the point and show the similarities and differences in the sites. I will definitely read further about the seven cemeteries, but this book provides a great first read on the matter.
