This is a great book for anyone with an interest in medical history. It breaks down London's mant medical sites into manageable, easy to follow routes. It explains the significance of all the sites in terms of their impact on health in London. The book covers many sites that I have not heard of before, and I am a tour guide in Clerkenwell and Islington. Well worth purchasing if you want to learn more about the buildings you take for granted each day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent study of medical London, 10 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Walking London's Medical History Second Edition (Paperback)
As someone previously involved in a major merger and reconfiguration of hospitals in London I recognise all the parallels the author draws about challenges for healthcare in London being very similar across many centuries. There are also lessons to learn for the future. And it is excellent if you enjoy London walks.

I don't know much about medical history but I love architecture, social history and walking around the great cities of the world. This book brings all four together in a delightful accessible way that enhanced my knowledge of the city and the way its people have been treated for their mental and physical ailments over the centuries. A quirky must have for the Londoner and any newcomer or visitor to the city.
