5.0 out of 5 stars This gem should be on every golfer's reading list.
Ben Hogan, one of the great legends of golf,
describes his own playing style in order to help
other golfers shave points off their game. Numerous illustrations show every aspect of the mechanics of the game in great detail. Golf history buffs will enjoy stories from Hogan's career. If you're looking for a comprehensive golf instruction book, look no further...

3.0 out of 5 stars Only a collector's item
The book was written in 1948 and contains only the most basic of instruction. Hogan's Modern Fundamentals of Golf, written in 1957, contains far superior instruction. You should only buy this book if you are a Hogan fan, just for the sake of having it on the bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars a fundamental classic, 4 Sep 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Golf (Mass Market Paperback)
"Power Golf" is an excellent driving range accessory. The book will no doubt be troublesome for the average once a month hacker whose bad habits have accumulated over several years. However, for the beginner or patient individual looking to correct poor fundamentals "Power Golf" will change your game. Not a good book to read on the couch. Take it to the range and use it like a "how to" manual. Grips, stance, body and ball positioning is what this book is all about. It WILL improve your game and get you on the road to breaking 80 consistently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic book, 28 May 2014

This review is from: Power Golf (Paperback)
Classic book from the great master of the game. Definitely worth reading, but bearing in mind that some of the concepts have further evolved in Five Lessons. However, this is the more detailed instructional book. Must have, if you are a golf fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great read for all golfers, 15 July 2005

This book has good theories on the golf swing although very outdated by his later book "The Modern Fundamentals of Golf".
The matchplay tips are very useful and his stories i enjoyed reading. His putting technique is slightly outdated but wow it works well. If you want this to improve your swing dont even think about buying this as his later book is absoulutely asume!! The matchplay tips and putting were the only thing in this book that actually made the effort of reading as for the rest it was just simply ignored.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Hogan's Best, 10 July 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Golf (Mass Market Paperback)
Not Hogan's best but still some useful information. You would be better served to buy a more modern expose on the golf swing, there are plenty of good books about power out there. One good one is Power Golf for Women it is surprisingly excellent. Another although for the short game is Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible. Plenty of books to choose from but it is always nice to have the Hogan name in your bookcase:)
