This review is from: Family Driven Faith (Hardcover)
If you are satisfied with the way we disciple children and teenagers in the church today and don't see any problem, don't read this book. But if you are prepared for your thinking and actions to be deeply challenged, even revolutionised, please read it.

Voddie Baucham puts his finger on an uncomfortable truth, and most of us don't want to face up to it. The fact is, the vast majority of young people from Christian homes are not reaching adulthood in the faith. This is in spite of our sunday schools and our burgeoning youth ministries. His basic thesis is that it is the job of parents, particularly fathers, to disciple their children, not that of the church. And the church helps parents to abdicate this responsibility by dividing families up on a Sunday between adults, youth and children. He is strongly against secular state education, putting sporting achievement before church and limiting family size.

He is strongly in favour of teaching men their responsibilities, discipling children in the home, home education, worshipping together as a family and keeping families together in church. I told you it was radical.

It is actually a very practical book, full of useful ideas. The author has a personable, friendly approach and is prepared to share his own mistakes along the way, as well as giving an insight in to how he 'does church' in the fellowship he pastors.

You need to read it because, face it folks, most of us have lost the art of bringing up godly offspring, our children are turning from the faith and our churches are slowly dying. I think that here we have a big part of the answer.
