Having been a fan of this since it began in the Saiyuki series im happy to say that the quality of story hasnt dropped a bit. (Though there are a few things that would have to fall under the catagory of story filler lol)
This is shorter than I thought it would be, as there is a fairly heavy extra strory at the end (which is cool) but the main story is well written, interesting and finally gives you the reason for Hazel being the way he is as well as the proper introduction of Ukoku. ^_^
The next volume in this series looks to be an action packed one with this volume ending on the set up for a fight between the Sanzo party and Ukoku. With Sanzo already pretty beaten up and Ukoku's power of erasure it should be a fun one.
