This book is very well titled. It makes the whole science of sound engineering so simple.
Bill Gibson's description of everything from preparing to load the truck for a gig, to placement of mics, make this book "unput-downable"!
All subjects covered are in easy to find sections, fully illustrated and easy to follow for both beginners or seasoned veterans.
The accompanying cd gives perfect examples of the different techniques and sounds, all important for any tutorial.
If you dont buy another book, buy this one.

An excellent book. We're using it as a training tool for Church PA team.
Comes with a DVD with audio & video demos.
Obviously you need a good telly / AV system to hear some of the more subtle differences that are demonstrated.
There are well structured concise explainations and diagrams. It is also easy to use as a reference during sound checks when something doesn't sound right.
As well as the technical stuff, it also has good team / operator skills / aproach / healthy attitudes to PA.
A well rounded book that you can hand over to a trainee without scaring them too much.
The DVD is helpful too when hands on experience is limited.
