4.0 out of 5 stars hard work but worth it
Unless you have quite a lot of patience and a willingness to read an 'experimental' novel, you'll probably get bored/lost/frustrated/angry with this typographically erratic, non-linear novel. Having said that, you could be a rebellious reader (postmodern texts often claim to require an active reader, but if you are following the trail the author has left does that make...

3.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - but...
To give this book mere 3 out of 5 stars suggests that House of Leaves is a mediocre work. It isn't. But 3/5 is still the closest approximation of my feelings after reading it, no matter how inadequate the rating system is in expressing the book's flawed genius.

1.0 out of 5 stars I can't even., 2 Jan 2014
This review is from: House Of Leaves (Paperback)
Let's just say the pages I enjoyed most in this book were the ones that solely incorporated odd circles and other geometrical shapes because they provided sweet relief from the dull slow paced irrelevant words that inhabited the pages in between. I couldn't finish this book. I threw it out the window and proceeded to throw myself out the window. I'm writing this from hell.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont believe the hype, 9 April 2013
This review is from: House Of Leaves (Paperback)
I eagerly received this book for christmas after reading all the rave reviews and what a dissappointment. Its the hardest book ive ever read, not because it was too intense and intelligent as id read but because it was so boring! All the side-stories along the main storyline just seemed to detract from what could of been a good novel, alot of it boring and inane dribble.

For me it was a novel trying to be arty and intelligent!
