When Max Roper is given a new assignment by Lucy Sharpe owner of Bullet Catcher's he doesn't show one sign about how he feels about it. The reason is the assignment is to protect Mrs Corinne Peyton who was once engaged to Max nearly three years previously. Their relationship ended when Cori assumed and Max didn't correct her that he was the reason her father got killed on an assignment.

Max arrived at her home the night of a benefit and her stepson Billy shows up angry about Cori inheriting everything from his father. Max escorts him home and tells him to leave Cori alone. This is not the only excitement to occur in Cori week, later someone shoots at her in one of the houses in the island while she is with Max and later on when she is at her masseuse, someone comes in and knock her out after they threaten her life. Max is seriously concerned now for her and he asked his associates to investigate the death of Cori husband William.

Cori also discovered that William might have been cheating on her and this upsets her because in her own way she loved William. Max is suspicious of everybody in Cori's life from her best friend Breezy to Swen her masseuse. Cori and Max have a lot of history and Max even considers that Cori could have murdered her husband but his friend Dan finds evidence to prove Cori is the next one on the hit list.

As more and more threats are made on Cori's life Max rushes to find who really wants her dead and why...
