Titan lives up to its promise
on 15 March 2013
This is the third Titan book and the series finally hits its stride. The crew are exploring the Gum galaxy when Troi picks up some empathic chatter. It turns out to be coming from a group of space creatures being hunted as part of a great hunt. Of course, Titan rushes in to protect the innocent but it turns out things aren't as straightforward as they seem.
The real stars of this book are the cosmozoans, a whole menagerie of weird and wonderful creatures living in the depths of space. The species are varied but fully realised, it's easy to believe these creatures could exist. A couple of old friends from TNG turn up, the Farpoint aliens and the crystalline entity, and get a bit more background than their previous 'alien of the week' roles allowed.
By the time I reached the end, I still wanted to know, more about this incredible ecosystem and quite frankly I could happily read two or three more novels set in this area of space.
