4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, 1 Feb 2011

My son (10) has had fun with these. Some are quite 'classic' optical illusions, others are more original. A few are a bit tame but with 50 to choose from there's plenty of entertainment value here.

My eleven year old brother loved these cards - he has spent hours showing them to everyone who comes through the door!

A great selection of optical illusions with full explanations as to how they work. Perfect for your little scientist!

4.0 out of 5 stars 50 Optical Illusions, 28 Jun 2011
This review is from: 50 Optical Illusions (Usborne Activity Cards) (Loose Leaf)
A fun selection of cards to entertain. I look at five or ten every so often so that I can take in the detail. Some are quick and simple, others truly amaze. There is a special "revealer card" to help show how the design fools the eyes and just to convince you that what you think you see is not necessarily true. The reverse of each card explains the illusion in detail - even then you may not be convinced. A good buy at a reasonable price.

Bought these as part of a topic on optical illusions and popular art for 10/11 yr olds. They absolutely loved the cards and were amazed by how the human eye/brain can be tricked into seeing things that were not there. It contains a very wide selection from classic illusions like the faces/vase to impossible drawings and colour wheels that seem to rotate. Exceptional value for the amount of pleasure and information provided. Would make a great present for anyone of any age who likes to be entertained and amazed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad. Bit annoying that they're an add on., 27 April 2014

Getting a bit fed up with having to buy items like this as a 10+ add-on, or pay exuberant postage costs. Though I guess it's hardly surprising given the price of postage these days.

That said, the kids liked them. Bought one set for mine and another as a gift. Bit fiddly having to keep shoving them back in the box without creasing them. Might look for a book next time!
