Very useful summary of what to see and do in Marrakech, and good for guidance on what to pay e.g. for group taxis trips, private taxi trips out of Marrakech.

Starting with a caveat: like most guidebooks, a Kindle isn't the best place to read this one, which I knew in advance. But the Kindle apps for Mac and PC (rather than the grey slate itself) make it much easier to work with, and that's what I used to plan my trip in advance.

The maps are good (once screengrabbed and printed!) and the walkthroughs of the city when you only have a day or two were ideal for my weekend trip. Like other rough guides, the structure of the book - first giving the highlights and a game plan, then expanding into areas and attractions - work very well. For me, it's either a Rough Guide or a Lonely Planet from now on.

I have used Rough guides for many years and so I was drawn to this guide. It was OK but quite brief. I guess this is only to be expected with a pocket guide, but I would have liked more info on attractions and sights etc, rather than accommodation and restaurants, as I already had my accommodation booked and was happy to take pot luck on restaurants. The map was really useful though and totally pocket sized. I used it more than either of my other two (more expensive) maps, and as a result it fell apart after 4 days. My advice would be to sellotape the seams before you go to make it a bit more sturdy ;-)

This is a very good guide which gives you a lot of information about the history and culture of Marrakesh, there is also a fold out map. Read this pocket guide and use it with Trip Advisor to find places to go.

This was an invaluable book for our recent trip to Marrakesh. We took the advice of many of the places to eat and were not disappointed. It is well laid out and well worth a look both before and during your trip. You will need to get yourself a better local map of the City but these are easily sought at most hotels or stores.

This is a short, sharp guide to Marrakech, including excursions to some nearby places. Whilst the prices need updating (a perpetual problem with printed guides, but I bought the Kindle version!), it proved to be reliable if pointing out the obvious (given its brevity). The occasional nugget is there: I tried a couple of the restaurants, and they were quite as it describes, though Marrakesh is not exactly for foodies...The section on Essouara convinced my other half to prefer a trip to there rather than Agadir, and we were enchanted by this little town (I should probably say 'blown away' given the wind there. Still, I wish there were more on what Marrakesh does best: stuff like carpets, fabric, leather goods and so on.

I thought this book was ideal for a short break away- however if you were going longer you might want something with a bit more substance

The info in this book is good and useful just like any other rough guide I have had. However, I purchased the kindle version, but I use it on the iPad and the images and maps are just terrible. You can't see them and they appear to have made little or no effort to enhance the images or upload higher res ones. I am sure it would be ok on the actual kindle as it doesn't have the capacity for imagery but they really should have made more effort. I have just bought the lonely planet paperback now as well although the text info will be handy.

Would have liked more historical information and about life styles etc. Lots of info about where to eat etc and where to stay; we are going on a tour package so don't need to worry about those things. Will be more selective next time when choosing a travel guide, chose this kindle version because of price and fact will not visit this place again.
