5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant book...
I found all of Henry's previous books excellent and this one didn't disappoint. I was addicted to it and couldn't put it down. All the different character's stories are beautifully woven together. I found myself completely taken into the story and saw it playing out like a TV Show in my head, as you should find yourself doing when reading any good...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable
This is second book I’ve read by Veronica Henry and it did not disappoint. It was an entertaining, easy-to-read-when-you-want-to-relax-book with likeable and not-so-likeable characters you can root for or against to your heart’s content. What makes the book so enjoyable is that plot and characters are credible without being boring. The end of course is also...

I highly recommend this and her other 3 novels.

I just discovered Veronica Henry and am so glad I did. An Eligible Bachelor is a fun "take to the beach" read, not too deep but very satisfying. There are several story lines centered around a small Cotswold village and its Eversleigh Manor. The main characters Guy, "lord of the manor" and eligible bachelor, and Honor, single mom and caterer, eventually find love after various twists and turns. Honor's best friend Henty is adorable and was actually my favorite character in the book. Her route to happiness is more interesting and fun to follow. As for the character of Henty, Veronica Henry and her publisher have added a brilliant, unexpected bonus at the very end of the book. Keep reading past the author info. Absolutely hilarious!!! I'll now pick up the rest of her books. You must too.

There is not really much I could say to describe how wonderful Veronica Henry's books are. From the very start they are captivating and have the most wonderful plots which reveal themselves slowly, I have read all of Veronica Henry's books and would reccomend them. An Eligible Bachelor is another wonderful masterpiece set in the country side and it really does make a change from all the books set in london, It proves that those in the country can have more fun. You will love the characters in this book as they are so easy to relate to. Everyone of them has a different story to tell and the way in which Veronica Henry presents the stories is fabulous changing story from chapter to chaper.

A wonderful book. what more can i say .....

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a soap opera, 12 Oct 2005
This review is from: An Eligible Bachelor (Paperback)
Since reading this have purchased all her other books and find them captivating, I pick them up and go into it like watching my favorite soap. Honeycote and Making Hay I found a bit slow to start but soon got into the story and couldnt put them down. Certainly a good holiday read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Worth the Time!, 8 Jan 2009

This review is from: An Eligible Bachelor (Paperback)
Eligible Bachelor is one of the cutest books I've read in a while. Henry has a style all of her own - she's part Jill Mansell, part Marian Keyes, part classic Aga-Saga doyenne. Veronica Henry writes a sharp and witty dialog that ultimately has a lot of heart underpinning it. Her characters - even the unlikeable ones - are believable and real. But real in the fun sense - not real like the boring guy who sits next to you on the 4 hour plane ride. Honor is really lovable as the single mom who's moved to a small town in the Cotswolds to make a go at supporting herself and her young son with her catering skills. Somehow she becomes involved with the local Lords of the Manor, befriending folks upstairs and down. Including the somewhat disheveled but nevertheless to die for son of the manor, Guy. Throw in man from her past (and definitely her future, whether she likes it or not), a glamorous actress, and assorted eccentric characters and Eligible Bachelor just flies along!

Shamefully, I have to admit that this was the first title I had read by Ms Henry - maybe I was living under a rock - but I am now a firm fan. Based around the crumbling Eversleigh Manor and village, I was totally captivated by its residents and visitors alike, and whilst not my type at all - I loved Guy Portia. There are enough great characters contained in this story for three or four great books, both people you will love and people you will hate - and I confess to having an equal number in both camps. A great read, and very hard to put down.

I read this book a few years ago and when it became available on Kindle I thought I would read it again and I am so pleased I did. The characters are great and I ended up liking all of them in spite of, or may be because of their human failings. A good holiday read and also overtook which keeps your attention.
