The absence of music seems a little muted on an edited recording, that said it's great to have these excellent episodes on an audio disc, and brings many fond memories of a very innovative and good series.

I bought this CD for my elderly aunt who just loves Ronnie Barker. I find that the audio tapes/cd's are funnier than the TV versions, and have bought other BBC collection tapes and CD's in the past. I would recommend them to any one who likes listening to comedy.

In the first episode "An Evening In", Fletch is reluctantly forced to share his cell with new inmate Lennie Godber played by Richard Beckinsale. During their first night sharing a cell, wily old lag Fletch tells Lennie to try to forget having carnal thoughts of Denise, Lennie's girlfriend, and gives him the benefit of his long experience of dealing with the problems of being locked-up. This is an endearingly funny and iconic episode.

In the second episode "Heartbreak Hotel", Lennie learns that his girlfriend has left him and lands himself in trouble after attacking an inmate. Fletch is paid a visit by his daughter Ingrid, played by Patricia Brake, who Lennie takes a shine too especially when she announces aloud at visiting time that she doesn't need to wear a bra because her breasts are "firm and pliant." In this very funny episode, warders Mr MacKay and Mr Barrowclough make brief appearances.

The audio clarity of this vintage BBC mono cd is excellent. Obviously one or two visual gags are lost but the programmes don't suffer too much because of this. It's great to hear the voices of Ronnie Barker, Richard Beckinsale, Fulton MacKay and Brian Wilde on cd, which allows for a greater intimacy for the listener.

If you enjoy comedies on audio, I highly recommend cds that feature my favourite comedy Hancocks Half Hour, and Steptoe & Son. Both available from Amazon.

Love Ronnie Barker and love Porridge so was very excited to be able to listen to some episodes whilst in the car. A Night In is an excellent episode, I just wish there were more to buy. Two episodes just isn't enough.

I'm sure it will be good when I get to listen to it. However, this product appears to be designed to prevent downloading to Mp3. Which is what I bought it for. No warning on the labelling. Very disappointing.
