The BBC Radio 2 Christmas pantomimes of the 1980s were a joy and something to look forward to. It is excellent that AudioGo have this year reissued Sleeping Beauty; Mother Goose; Puss in Boots & Dick Whittington. Each panto is a newly written (at the time) production with comedy, music and songs from the cast. The panto's are performed in front of an audience and the laughter can be heard from start to finish. Many of the jokes are topical and so you may have to think back but Chris Emmett always has his fingers on the pulse. The sound quality and special effects are just right and the inclusion of many well known voices and names of the time make this a lovely souvenir of comedy past. This show of Aladdin has the ever popular Carry on Star, Kenneth Connor; 70s star Clodagh Rodgers; Alfred Marks and Billy Boyle to name just a few. A great variety orchestra with singers great sound. The packaging is colourful and this makes a great nostalgic gift. Good value too!
