This is my favourite BBC radio series of all time. The quality is great and it's fantastic to have the unedited shows on CD.

However... be aware that, at the time of writing (September 2010), there is a chaptering error on Disc 2. Episode 4 is supposed to begin at Chapter 11 but actually starts at around 4'35" into Chapter 10 after a pause between it and episode 3.

At least three friends have thought the show has been edited because they were listening to individual episodes. It's there, but just a bit complicated to listen to from the beginning at this stage! For what it's worth, I've sent an email to BBC Audiobooks. They have remastered a disc in the past in response to a problem I brought to their attention with the Sherlock Holmes box set, so fingers crossed.

UPDATE: I've had a relatively positive response from BBC Audiobooks which acknowledges the fault. There is a question mark over whether it is serious enough for a product recall, but the issue is "being investigated." It would be wrong to publish here the email address I used, so might I suggest that, if you are interested in this set, you email BBC Audiobooks customer services via their website. I have, at least, been promised a replacement disc should it be re-pressed.

I've been waiting years and years for this. I don't know why it took so long, but I'm guessing it was due to the same old "contractual/copyright" reasons that seem to prevent the BBC releasing many of their best programmes uncut, if at all.

I can only hope that it won't be another decade before we see the rest of this brilliant comedy released on CD.

If they could only do the same thing for "I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again"...

This was just one series, it is a great pity the BBC don't produce all of these series as they are still classic comedy!

I loved Radio Active when it was first broadcast. My worry was that it would disappoint after such a lapse of time. I need not have worried, as it stands up well to scrutiny. Much of the humour is completely dead-pan. The snide, bitchy and inappropriate comments of the presenters of this spoof 'National Local Radio Station' still made me guffaw. I have no idea if life in the radio stations is like that, but you can still get laughs of recognition. Maybe I'll try the TV version, K Y Television, next, but the pictures are so much better on the radio.

Good to see how this excellent series started but would've preferred some of the later series, when it was at its best. No Martin Brown for example. However, to people new to this, forget the TV series KYTV, this is much funnier.

Pitch perfect. The dry, laconic wit of Angus Deayton, all the characters played by Helen Atkinson-Wood...
At this distance, I find the best things are the musical ripoffs. Maybe a younger generation wouldn't get it, but the droning of Status Quid and the wailing of the HeeBeeGeeBees together with Kenny Rodgered do it for me.
And if that wasn't enough, try the phone-ins with Anna Rabies, or the reports from our hapless man-in-the-field Nigel Pry.
Brilliant stuff, and as I remember, it only got better, so I hope that further series will soon be available.

Radio Active at its best was sublimely funny as a spoof of all the pretention and incompetence of local radio stations. Alas, although this first series has its moments, it is not the best.

Just as good as I remember them when I listened the first time round on the radio.

Great, although the second series found its feet better
