It is hard to praise this book highly enough, detailed scientific fact is beautifully combined with stunning photography in an entirely engaging and meticulous fashion. For anyone wishing to travel to the Galapagos this is a must-have, and for arm-chair adventurers this gives all the necessary thrills through the eyes of the skilled and intrepid scientists.

This is a different style book to Tui De Roy's previous books on the Galapagos,as it has chapters by many authors. Each deals with a specific aspect in their own field of expertise and as such are of great interest. The photography is, as always outstanding. The book has been well edited.

I saw the book while I was on the island of Isabela in the Galapagos, in the reception of a hotel there. I particularly like th book because each chapter was written by an expert in the field, eg, botany, sea life, sea lions, geology etc. And the pictures are breathtaking. It describes my own experiences in the fabulous islands better than my own pictures.

This book is truly wonderful. I am savouring every single chapter of it - most of which are written in accessible language. One or two are a bit technical, but for the most part this is a perfect book for the lay person wanting to discover the various aspects of these wonderful islands.
