5.0 out of 5 stars This book was brill!!!!!, 27 Dec 1998
By A Customer
This book was very good at explaining what it meant. Through out the book there are two main people. One is a scientist and one is a privite eye. They explain all the things about your body. If you wanted to find out about a part of your body, then this is the book for you. Like his other books he still knows how to explain what he means and make it funny!!! He didn't write pages and pages of writing in one go, but wrote it bit by bit. So you didn't realise that you were reading so much in one go.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Have you got the stomach for some really disgusting discoveries?', 7 Mar 2007
'In this book are some foul scientific secrets and disgusting discoveries with a hearty helping of belly-laughs, 'Disgusting Digestion' dishes up the dirt on your innards!'

Colourful covers open to 152 matt pages, split over chapters:

1. Introduction
2. Disgusting discoveries
3. Disgusting digestive bits 'n' pieces
4. Foul food facts
5. Fatal food poisoning
6. Deadly digestive diseases
7. A horribly healthy diet
8. The mighty mouth
9. The staggering stomach
10. Disgusting gut feelings
11. Energetic enzymes
12. Going round the bend
13. Something to chew over (food for thought)

Example of text: From 'Enormous appetites'

'The amount you eat depends on how big your stomach is. After all, you've got to put all that food somewhere. This is also controlled by a pea-sized lump on the underside of the brain called the hypothalamus (hi-po-thala-mus).
This signals to your brain when it's time to eat and when to stop. If you don't want to stop, then chances are that you're eating something you really enjoy. And if you don't want to start eating, then you're probably sitting in front of your school dinner.......'

Interspersed with fantastic fact files, quirky quizzes, teacher tests and 'Answers' (upside down!).
Black and white illustrations/cartoons throughout, and littered with 'Bet you never knew' fact-boxes & 'Horrible Health Warnings'.

Bought for my Grandson - who absolutely loves all the Horrible books! I will probably end up buying them all, he's a great reader; but that's maybe because I taught him to read and write myself! He wouldn't be reading these book if it was left to the school!
