Poor Follow Up
on 10 March 2012
I couldn't wait to read this book after the brilliant Here Come The Aliens was such a success with my son. Unfortunately I found it really disappointing. The actual story is OK, the idea of a book within a book is unusual and the ending is amusing but it falls down on the alien part of the book. There were so many colourful ideas in Here Comes the Aliens that I think Colin McNaughton exhuasted his creativity and there are several references to them in this new book, aliens with eyeballs in their tummies etc The big problem for me was the large amount of repetition of the same lines in the story which makes for quite a boring read. If you don't mind that then you will probably quite like this book but for me it's a very poor sequel to a great book and very little that is fresh or exciting.
