This is a great series of books, popular with our three year old and fun to read.
This one is about materials. Oscar finds a nest and talks to Snail about the materials that birds use to build their nests. A feather blows away and floats in a bowl of water so they talk about sinking and floating. They discuss different types of stones and that all stones are heavy. It starts to rain and they go in a greenhouse to keep dry and discuss that glass is strong and clear and how glass is made. They then discuss other materials - wood, oil, wheat, wool, clay.
Again, like the rest of the series, they are pitched at a good level for 3/4 year olds with about the right level of detail and are a good starting point for talking about the topics in them.

Our son loves this. We got it for him when he was just over 3 and it's been picked up often over the last 10 months. The illustrations are appealing, the story is entertaining and interesting and as parents, it's nice to have a book like this to guide learning. Great series.
