My son was given this book for his 2nd birthday and I love reading it to him. There's lots of noises we can make together, its got chickens and wheels and the illustrations are incredibly detailed and wonderful. Its a book that will last and become one of our family favourites.

The children at our nursery school enjoy this book because it has such a range of sounds for them to repeat. It's good for group work on sounds and the pictures are lovely to share with an individual child or the children to look at together, and because the text is so memorable they really feel they are reading it to each other. It isn't really a story, more an introduction to the travellers - the fireman (shovel, shovel), ladies off to the races (lovely tea, lovely cake), the soldiers, schoolchildren, businessmen... all with a short phrase of their own. We've been hearing the sentences in the children's play since introducing this book. The final character, the station parrot, concludes the book in a very satisfactory way. We love this book.
