4.0 out of 5 stars Solid intro to forensics, 7 Dec 2009

This review is from: Introduction to Forensic and Criminal Psychology (Paperback)
This book is a stalwart of university forensic psychology modules. It's a good, basic intro to the main areas of study and provides interesting insight into key issues such as why people offend, how the courts treat the mentally ill, offender profiling etc. It goes into enough detail to be able to use it as a springboard for further reading.
Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good university book, 2 Dec 2010

This review is from: Introduction to Forensic and Criminal Psychology (Paperback)
I had to get this book as part of a module at University. It is definitely one of the more easy to follow books. It has got some interesting language in some places but it is explained. It breaks down topics effectively and gives really good over views. Importantly it critiques the studies it presents which is really important and some texts lack this. Furthermore its mostly black and white but has some lilac thrown in to spice it up, which works well. It doesn't have that many diagrams but when it does they are excellent. It widely covers a range of topics and to make it even better at the end of each topic it gives further reading and the a web address where you can answer questions on topics and get flash-cards and revision aids. This really is one of the best study books i have ever bought!

4.0 out of 5 stars Understandable for those not in the know, 15 May 2009
This review is from: Introduction to Forensic and Criminal Psychology (Paperback)
I only have an interest in this subject and have not been trained in any area relating to this subject. However, to the layperson this book is understandable and relatively easy to read. It did tend to go-on in places but I am sure that this is necessary for those who buy this book for study and not just for a neb, like me! Very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting, 8 July 2010

Having read popular books on criminology this was a much better and deeper read. It was relatively easy to read for the non-student though I am never going to understand statistics any time soon. I think I will be re-reading it and dipping it for info for a long time.
