4.0 out of 5 stars History comes to life as two stories are woven into one., 5 Nov 1998
By A Customer
Meg the serving girl is accused of stealing a silver cup from Marsden Hall. She will hang for it. Meanwhile, William's mother, Lady Marsden, tells them about the time she was forced to spy on Mary Queen of Scots. These are the two stories woven together by Terry Deary, the author of Horrible Histories. This one isn't horrible. It's breath-taking, wonderful, adventurous and informative. It's mysterious and exciting as Meg is forced to spy on her friends at the Black Bull Tavern. And you get to find out that Mary Queen of Scots was executed with an axe. She also had a little dog, a Scottish terrier. The plots, and the plots inside the plots, keep you interested right to the end. Jennifer Mann, 9

A brilliant and well written book!It is a great story line with good strong characters. It is based in tudor times and has lots of great little parts round the corner that you were never expecting. It has a good ending which has got something in it for every one. Even if your not really into this kind of history book which I am not really I would still recomend it.
