Excellent book that gives you an insight into the sites and what to look for. Specific and succinct it will highlight small but important details which you may overlook when visiting a historic site.

Buy this & no need to travel ! Sit in you armchair, look at the illustrations & dream. Of course I went to Greece to check if this book was accurate, it was & this book can always be picked up again when the holiday is over.

I knew it was an ex library copy, but I somehow didn't expect that it would be plastered with stamps from the library in question all over the inside front cover.

The problems with traveler's guides is that they are very useful to read before you go somewhere. When you are there, they seem inadequate. Of course this is an unfair critique, but it always seems so. DK Eyewitness Travel guides are still the best in my opinion. You can always find more information on the net when you return and have kept notes. The guide also is useful as a check list after you have returned and about to search the net.
